Es el organismo independiente de los
tres poderes del Estado, creado mediante Decreto Legislativo No 228-93, vigente desde el 6 de enero de 1994, su
obligación ineludible es la investigación de los delitos y el ejercicio de la acción penal
pública, la vigilancia en el cumplimiento exacto de la condena, así como la sujeción estricta
del órgano jurisdiccional a la Constitución Pública y las leyes, constituyéndose en el
representante, defensor y protector de los intereses generales de la sociedad y en auxiliar de los tribunales.
TRANSLATION
An independent entity, funcionally unattached to
all three branches of Government, the Public Ministry was instituted on January the 6th, 1994, through Legislative Decree No. 228-93.
It´s main functions are the prosecution of all crimes and felonies, to ensure full compliance by all with the Constitution and
the law of the land, and to represent, to defend and to protect the general interest of society.
